Apprentice

At Pennsic 39, Meisterin Katarina Helene von Schoenborn kindly offered to take me under her wing to teach me the art of Bookbinding, a great passion of mine. She has been a wonderful guide through the many trials and tribulations of this art and the many others that tempt me, and I am eternally grateful for the time, energy, and experience that she's willingly shared with me.

On September 10, 2022, Laureate Aveline became my second laurel, a second guide and voice of reason to help me through finding the best research and methods for all that I love. She has been an incredible resource and friend, and I am so grateful that she is willing to be a second voice in my ear.

Protege

At Festival of Maidens on January 30, AS 50, Baron Wilhelm Michalik formally took Lady Eva Wurster and me as his first proteges. I had asked him to formalize a long-standing relationship that we had already had where he was my mentor and guide as seneschal first for Wurmwald, and then for all of the Midlands. His advice has always been on-point, useful, and given with not a small amount of snark. (That's my favorite language.) We received a yellow belt and a ring as a sign of his patronage in a ceremony seen by many of my friends and family.

Calf to Codex Project

During the Spring of AS 50, I assisted my Apprentice sister, Arianwen, and a friend, Isobel, with the binding of the Calf to Codex book. The book was conceptualized by Master Johannes von Narrenstein as a Book of the Midrealm. The pages were parchment made by hand over the course of several years by multiple artists, led by Master Ranthulfr Asparlundr . The pages were then drawn, caliged, and illuminated by a dozen different artisans with stories, songs, and lists of the Midrealm. Through the guidance of our Laurel, Meisterin Katarina Helene von Schoenborn, Arianwen, Isobel (another wonderful binder who is not apprenticed to anyone as yet), and I bound the pages together into a Gothic binding. Arianwen and Katarina completed the binding before sending it on to be decorated and later have the bosses and clasps added. Finally, a box was made in which the book will reside. This book will be presented at SCA 50 Year, and then shown around the Kingdom.
