About
Okenshield is a Shire in the South Oaken Region of the Middle Kingdom.
Mundanely, Okenshield is located in south-eastern Kentucky. It covers the southern Kentucky counties of: Wolfe, Lee, Breathit, Jackson, Owsley, Perry, Laurel, Clay, Leslie, Whitley, Knox, Bell, Rock Castle, Pulaski, McCreary, and Harlan.
The group is Dormant/Disbanded

History
Okenshield started its journey to shire status in the spring of 2011. Sponsored by the Barony of Fenix (Baron Hengist and Baroness Hypatia). The shire first submitted the name as Oakenshield but, after consultation, it was changed to Akumshield and finally Okenshield. Okenshield grew out of a group of fighters that formed House Marius, this is seen in the device for the shire which shows three oak leaves. Okenshield is the land of oaks and the shield of the south.
Okenshield became a full shire in 2013, noted in the 3rd quarter of 2013 Board of Directors Minutes.
In 2022, the group went Dormant or Disbanded
Heraldry History
The name Shire of Oken Shield was registered with the SCA College of Heralds in November of 2012.
The heraldic device blazoned "Argent, a wolf rampant sable within a laurel wreath and in chief three oak leaves vert." was registered in November of 2012.
