Persona
Edward, lord of Denby, in Sherwood, is the only son of a 11th century lesser Saxon
landowner. His father, Aelred, was killed during the earliest years of the Barons rebellion.
Edward participated in the Third Crusade as an archer. He returned after Richard the Lion
Heart’s death. He returned with Will Scatloch, his boyhood friend Alan A'Dayle and a
mountain of a man and blacksmith named John Littlerede. He quietly works with them in
badgering the Norman interloper and his local law keeper, Ralf Fitz-Gerald, Sheriff of
Nottingham. Since his return he, like his father has become involved with the Barons
rebellion in trying to force King John to adopt the Articles of the Barons, what later came
to be known as the Magna Carta.
