The Award of the Dragon's Tooth is an award given by the Crown to those who have performed dramatic deeds in the Arts Martial on behalf of the Middle Kingdom, above and beyond service normally expected of the subjects of the Crown. The award gives armigerous status.

Though often thought of as a armored combat award the Dragon's Tooth can and has been given for any of the martial activities.

Precedence

This award conveys precedence ahead of the Gaping Wound. This award is equal to the awards: Orders of the Dragon's Barb, Cavendish Knot, White Chamfron and Red Company.

Rights and Privileges

Recipients of this award are called Recipients of the Dragon's Tooth and may use the letters R.D.T. after their name and are titled Lord/Lady. The recipients may also wear a badge blazoned: Or, on a pale vert three fangs palewise Or.

History

Created by Cariadoc II and Diana II (based on date of first recorded recipient)

First recipient was Merowald de Sylveaston - Jan 1, 1971

Originally the Order of the Dragon's Tooth. Because this award was often given on the field immediately following the witnessing of the dramatic deeds and without the ability to check the Order of Precedence as to whether the recipient was already a member of the Order it was later changed to an Award. As of March 25th, A.S. 40, the Order of the Dragon's Tooth is disbanded, and all Companions of the Order of the Dragon's Tooth shall be known as Recipients of the Dragon's Tooth.

Because the Kingdom already had an award with the initials A.D.T. (Award of the Dragon's Treasure, the youth service award) the OP abbreviation for this Award remains O.D.T. despite no longer being an Order. This does occasionally cause some confusion.
