Supporter

A heraldic term. A support is an animal or mythical beast which holds either side of a shield in the full display of a coat of arms.

Restrictions on Supporters within the Middle Kingdom
Supporter(s) are a matter of personal choice. There is no restriction to two people using the same supporter(s). The only exception is the use of dragons as supporters is limited as described below.
- Within the Middle Kingdom, persons who have received an Award of Arms may use one supporter of their choosing.
- The badges of any awards and orders to which a person is entiteled may be displayed by the supporter. This is most commonly warn around the neck of the supporter.
- All nobility (Duke/Duchess, Count/Countess, Viscount/Viscountess, Territorial Baron/Baroness, Court Baron/Baroness, Peers, holders of Grants of Arms, and Great Officers of State) are entitled to a second supporter.
- Great Officers of State, holders of Grant of Arms by virtue of past service to the Middle Kingdom as Great Officers of State and Royal Peers of the Middle Kingdom may have a dragon as one of their supporters. No one else may use a dragon supporter in the Middle Kingdom
