Red belts

A red belt is worn to signify the wearer is a Squire to a Knight or Master of Arms.

Reportedly the red symbolizes the blood shed upon the path of chivalry or in more pratical terms the hardships and sacrifices of that path. Legend has it that the squires of the Midrealm asked the king to be known by wearing red belts so that they might be more accountable for their actions after a particular squire had done something less than honourable.

Note: While not forbidden by any sumptuary law, this color is traditionally reserved for those who are Squires. Tradition is often more powerful than law and should be observed. Black and brown belts are your safest bet if in doubt.
