Heraldic Boast for Njall Tjorkilsson
From MiddleWiki
Boast for Njall Tjorkilsson's elevation to the Order of Chivalry, written by Andreas Blacwode.
Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns, driven time and again off course. Once he was a knight, bearing chain of sunlight and weighty belt of purity, once he was raised up. But sing, Muse, he was not ready, and gave he up the chain and belt, and struck out in his black ship, upon the open water.
Launch out on his story, Muse, daughter of Zeus, start from where you will -- sing for our time too!
Many kingdoms he saw, and learned their ways, many pains he suffered, lost on the wine-dark sea, fighting to regain his path. Many walked that path and gained their goal, but Njal Tjorkilsson, occasionally called Sarpedon, toiled, making his own way, carving his trail, and finally, when the wheeling seasons brought the years around, and, guided by his own compass, finally, he was no longer Njal the lost, but Njal the found. And, Muse, was it all the sweeter.
