Feast

A formal meal at an event. The feast is usually cooked by members of the host group and served at tables by servers, often with much ceremony. The ruling nobles (if any) preside over the feast while sitting at a high table and are served each dish first.

Feasts are often divided into courses, or services. The term remove often used at a feast is incorrect usage of an 18th century term and is slowly being phased out across the SCA. Typically, they begin in early evening and either follow or precede a court, if any. A typical feast lasts for about an hour and a half or two hours.

Participants provide their own feast gear, or table setting.

Each event will typically have an officer in charge of planning and running the feast called the Feast Steward, Master Cook, Head Cook, or rarely Feastocrat.
