Introduction

Dame Sæhildr barngóðr (pronounced Sa-hillder barn-go-ther - both kind of rhyme with "sir") is a 10th Century Dane/Norsewoman who wears vibrantly colored apron dresses. She is known for her creation of the Middle Kingdom Event It Takes My Child to Raze a Village and making peg dolls that bear a resemblance to certain royal and noble persons. Most children (and many adults) call her "Dame Silly."

Persona & SCA Activities

SæhildR barngóðR was born late summer two winters after the birth of Gamle Eirikssen (the eldest son of King Eric Bloodaxe) about mid-Tvímánuður. Her curly mop of hair is frequently in two braids that rarely hang evenly.

In the SCA, she lives in the Canton of WealdLake, which is located in Northwoods (the oldest Barony in the Midrealm), in the Region of Pentamere. SaehildR joined the SCA in 2001 after coming home from her freshman year of college to find her entire family in a community theatre production of Camelot. Some members of the SCA happened to also be in the show and invited the family to their first "event" - the 2001 Howell Balloonfest Demo (which no longer happens). She served as a go-fer and entertained children with songs she learned as a summer camp counselor. Her first "real" event was Val Day in 2002.

She has been a member of House Ironwolf since Pennsic 35.

In February 2016, SaehildR became a protege to Master Maximilian der Zauberer, (OP and MOD). On August 11, 2022 in the Pennsic Court of Runa K & Arch she was put on vigil for the Order of the Pelican and made a Baroness of the Court. On September 10, 2022 (the day after her fortieth birthday) she was recognized as a Companion of the Order of the Pelican.

She enjoys thrown weapons, retaining, making Peg Dolls, gaming, learning how to do stuff, serving in a myriad of ways, singing, creating largesse, and chatting with anyone.

In June 2017, at North Oaken War Maneuvers she learned how to make coins and joined the Midrealm Moneyer's Guild.

**It Takes My Child to Raze a Village

THL SaehildR has some word-fame for her brainchild, the event It Takes My Child to Raze a Village. The original focus of the event was parent-child cooperative activities, but over the last decade the event has grown to be an excellent event for people of all ages and family sizes! "Lady Silly" (as the children call her) is known for running activities for children and youth that immerse the participants into medieval life or teach them about life in the SCA. She makes it known to anyone within ear-shot (or screen-shot) that coloring pages and foam crowns have very few, very specific uses at Youth Point. She created a handbook of (over 50) Youth Activities! She has spent a lot of time researching the lives of medieval children and thoroughly enjoys finding new ways to share her knowledge. She also teaches hands-on classes for adults on Youth Pointe activities, how to run ITMC, and other related topics.

Other Information of Import

SaehildR has several family members who are also active members in the SCA. Her parents are Baroness Alianor bat Asriel and Baron Aindle O Dairmada the former landed Baron & Baroness of North Woods. Her sister, Lady Bryn Archer, and brother-in-law Lord Horatio Archer are active members of the canton of Fearann na Criche.

In Modern Life, Sarah Jean has a bachelor's degree in General Studies with a focus in Elementary Methods, Curriculum and Assessment. She currently works as a substitute teacher and is the Director of a thriving before and afterschool program (where the children enjoy helping her test out "new" medieval games and activities!) She has over 20 years experience working with children. She is annually First Aid and CPR certified (including AED training) and SCA background-checked.
