MiddleWiki:Disambiguation
From MiddleWiki
Disambiguation in MiddleWiki is the process of resolving conflicts in article titles that occur when a single term can be associated with more than one topic. In many cases, this same word or phrase is the natural title of more than one article. In other words, disambiguations are paths leading to different topic pages that share essentially the same term in their title.
For example, to create a link to Crown, just put double square brackets around the word — Crown — producing Crown. Now, Crown is a disambiguation page, listing the several usages of the word. All Crown links in an article probably refer to a particular Crown, such as the King and Queen Themselves (The Crown), the ornamental decoration worn on the heads of the King and/or Queen (crown (headgear)), or the Tournament to decide the next Prince and Princess (Crown Tournament).
To define a page as a disambiguation page, start with the template — disambig — followed by a list of the various links that could be meant by the ambigous term. For Example:
Crown may refer to: * The Crown, the King and Queen Themselves * crown (headgear), an ornamental decoration worn on the heads of the King and/or Queen * Crown Tournament, the Tournament to decide the next Prince and Princess
Which produces:
