Affiliations

Magnus is a founding member of The Murder, which came into being during Pennsic 50 (August 2023). At the sound of the caw, the Murder comes running to render aid, create merriment, and abscond with shiny objects.

Magnus became the student of Dame Roana Aldinoch at Fall Coronation A.S. 51 on September 28, 2024. As such, he is also a member of Hus gyldenbrocc.

In Case of Court/Scroll

Magnus prefers scrolls in Modern English or appropriately translated Old Norse. No preference between Younger and Elder Futhark runes, so long as there is consistency.

He enjoys "typical" scroll layouts but especially adores original takes and uncommon executions such as non-rectangular scrolls, non-linear text layout (i.e., text borders on rune/standing stones), atypical materials (wood, leather, metal, etc.), and non-"scroll" scrolls (i.e., a persona-appropriate handmade item bearing the badge of a given award)!

Magnus is also similarly eager to be commissioned for work on such scrolls, from leather-based scrolls to awards of non-scroll format. Please send all inquiries to [email protected].

A&S Projects

  • An interpretation of the arrow quiver found at the 10th century Viking trading port of Hedeby/Haithabu/Heiðabýr. The artist's name is included around the collar in Younger Futhark. The star motif on the collar is a reference to my home Barony of Ayreton.
  • A set of arrows based on archaeological finds from 10th century Hedeby/Haithabu/Heiðabýr. The top set of twelve arrows is inspired by remains found in the settlement's harbor area, while the bottom arrow with period leaf-style arrowhead is inspired by remains from a ship burial in the same location. Read the documentation here!
  • Leather shoes with green embroidery inspired by a 9th century Viking find from modern-day Mecklenburg, Germany. Created as part of our winning Intermediate-level entry to Quest for the Golden Seamstress in 2025. See the full documentation for our entry [here]!
  • My interpretation of "Type 8" leather boots with silk trim, based on finds from 10th century Hedeby. Read the full write-up here! These boots were my entry to Queen Jalida al-Hassanah's Rose Tournament as her A&S Champion.
  • A wooden chest made of pine in the style of 10th century "sea chests" discovered in Oseberg, Norway. Finished with boiled linseed oil. Nails, hinges, hasp, staple, and lock & key are all handmade, but not by me!)
