Better War Through Archery (BWTA) is an annual event hosted by the Barony of Sternfeld. Typically held in March at the Henricks County 4H Fairgrounds in Danville, Indiana, BWTA serves as the unofficial kickoff of missile weapon activities for the year.

Activities

BWTA offers a variety of activities, including:

  • Archery: Target and combat archery shoots for all skill levels.
  • Thrown Weapons: Competitions and practice in disciplines such as knife and axe throwing.
  • Tournaments: These have at times included the Midrealm Schutzenfest, Tournament of the Greenwoods, and the Baronial champion shoot
  • Court: Often the event has been graced to have royalty present where, at their pleasure, Royal and baronial courts may be held to bestow awards and honors.
  • Feast: A multiple remove meal featuring period-inspired dishes.
  • Merchants: providing a variety of medieval and archery items

The 2025 event featured a Top Chef competition, the initiation of the MOSS shoot, and a Diaper shot for charity.

The event promotes archery, thrown weapons, & combat archery.
