Queen Amalie

The Amalie is a type of alcoholic mixed drink made with, among other ingredients, Coffee or Espresso, Kahlua, Baileys cream liqueur, and flavored syrups. It typically runs about 5-10% alcoholic and can be considered a desert beverage.

It is not a alcoholic version of the The Cameron it is a drink strong in caramel and cinnamon favor where as the Amalie is strong in cream and chocolate with a hint of coffee.


Origins

Katayoun Al-Aurvataspa designed this drink based on experiences she shared with Princess Amalie during Gulf Wars XXII.


The Amalie Slushie

  • 1 cup french press coffee or 4 shots espresso, cooled
  • 3/4 cup Kahlua
  • 1/2 cup vanilla cinnamon Baileys
  • 2 tsp caramel drink syrup
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla drink syrup

Refrigerate overnight if you can wait, it's worth it.

Blend with 4 cups of ice, or pour over ice.

Top with whipped cream and drizzle with hot fudge sauce.

Whiskey Version

  • 2 cups french press coffee or 6 shots espresso, cooled
  • 3/4 cup Kahlua
  • 3/4 cup vanilla cinnamon Baileys
  • 3 tsp caramel drink syrup
  • 3/4 cup cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla drink syrup
  • 2/3 cup whiskey of your choice

Blend with 8 cups of ice, or pour over ice.

Top with whipped cream and drizzle with hot fudge sauce.

For the whiskey version, it has been recommended to use Black Velvet Toasted Caramel. If you do, skip the caramel syrup.
