The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA) is a non-profit educational corporation dedicated to studying and re-creating the history of pre-seventeenth century western European culture.

The Society for Creative Anachronism was formed in 1966 in Berkeley, CA.

Sometimes pronounced “skah” as opposed to “ess-see-ay.” This is Middle Kingdom usage, allegedly because science fiction fans in East Lansing, surprised that Northwoods Barony did not fade out in the early ‘70’s, started calling it “SCA, the thing that would not die.”
