Historic Dance in Persia

Not a lot is known about the court dance of Persia after the country was taken over by Islamic rule in the (8th? 11th? I forget) century. However, dancers still show up in artwork and poetry so we know that dance was a part of Medieval Persian life, even if we do not know the specific steps. There is much written about Persian music and musical systems of the time and these can also lend a clue as to how the historic dance may have been.

Modern "Classical" Persian Dance

Widely regarded as more delicate and refined than other forms of Middle Eastern Dance blah blah blah
