Pejoritive
From MiddleWiki
Pejoritive terms are particular types of slang which are regarded as rude and offensive in use, and should be avoided. They are presented here for reference's sake alone.
A list of these terms includes, but is not limited to:
- Authenti-Nazi
- Someone over critical and nit-picky over even minor historical inaccuracies in garb, armor, etc, especially in a rude manner. Polite, reasonable people with a passion for authenticity are not Authenti-Nazis and can be politely referred to as Authenticity Mavens.
- Bunny
- A female whose garb looks like it may have been made from maybe half a dozen rabbit furs.
- Belly Bunny: A female wearing modern stomach-baring belly dance wear, especially one who is not a dancer or lacks dancing skill.
- Chainmail Bikini Babe
- A female who who is a non-fighter but who parades around in psuedo-armor that would afford, shall we say, little protection.
- Conan
- A male version of a bunny. Often seen sporting a sword strapped across their back which is totally unsuited for actual combat.
- Dane
- Short for Mundane.
- Fairy
- Someone whose persona or dress resembles one derived from a Fantasy Role Playing Game, particularly those who try to portray elves.
- Fop
- Overly effete or flamboyant mannerisms or dress. The term can be posative or self-imposed somewhat equivalent to the modern slang "Metrosexual"
- FUBBA-WUBBA
- (Acronym) "Fat Ugly Broad With A Bad Attitude" (EXTREMELY derogatory).
- Hat
- Often used as a term in a derogatory fashion to indicate nobles who are overly stuffy or impressed with themselves. Again, the context used is important.
- Pointy Hat: Refers to royalty.
- Brass Hat: Those who wear Gold Crowns or Coronets - Dukes/Duchesses, Counts/Countesses, and Barons/Baronesses.
- Tin Hat: Those who wear Silver Crowns or Coronets - Viscounts/Viscountess or Barons/Baronesses of the Court. This is often used more perjoritively for those merely armigerous persons who push the sumptuary limits of the circlets they are entitled to wear, and are otherwise overwhelmed with a sense of self importance.
- Noob
- While a "Newbie" is a newcomer, a Noob (Newbie/Goober) is sometimes used for a person who comes in "knowing it all" and is unwilling to learn culture, custom, etc.
- Rennie
- A term used for someone who is uninterested in authenticity, whose outfit looks as if it may have been randomly selected at a Renaissance Fair. Alternately, someone who also regularly participates in such Fairs.
- Rhino, Rhinohide, Rhinohider
- Someone who fails to accept blows in heavy combat.
- Soylent Green/Mystery Meat
- Used to refer to unrecognizable or inedible food at a feast.
- Stick Jock
- A term for a fighter who participates in no other aspects of the SCA.
- Superduke
- A term referring to a person who has won Crown Tourney three or more times; can sometimes be used a derogatory manner to insinuate a degree of glory-hogging. The context used is important.
- Swishy-Poke
- A term referring to rapier-style fighting.
- Vampire
- A person whose dress is Gothic (in the modern sense) in style, who resembles a vampire.
- Wannabee
- Term for a person who walks around dressed in costume armor, usually bearing copius amounts of weaponry, but who does not actually engage in any SCA combat
- Weeble
- Another term for Rhinohider, from the phrase "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.." Sometimes used to designate a Rhinohider in Rapier Combat.
- Wire Weenie
- A derogatory term for a light fighter or rapier combatant.
