Pas d'Armes

A type of tournament popular in the 14th and 15th centuries, described in "King ReneƩ's Tournament Book". In recent years, recreations of actual period tournament styles are gaining popularity. In common slang the term "Pas" is used to refer to any of these more formal tournament styles, especially those where the prize is presented by the choice of a gallery of ladies rather than by the victor of the tournament.

A Pas d'Armes can be an especially entertaining type of tournament for spectators as it will frequently involve specific challenges and boasts and contests like bouts at a barrier instead of normal tournament fighting.
