Marshal in Charge

A Marshal who is responsible for the management of a tournament and other fighting activities at an event. The marshal in charge is the final authority (subject to the King or Earl Marshal) for rattan or rapier combat on that day, and makes a written report to his/her superiors.

The marshal in charge signs authorization cards for secondary authorizations and Marshal in Training forms for trainees. The other marshals present assist the MiC.

If the marshal in charge must be away from the lists, he/she appoints a Presiding Marshal to have temporary charge of the fighting.
