About this shoot

The Clout shoot cannot be done at every event as it requires a 100 yard archery range. However it remains a popular shoot and is usually a part of the Populace Archery Point at the annual Pennsic War.

The shoot usually consists of a circle representing the wall of a tower or fort (frequently made out of hay bales and/or cardboard with embattlements) with a target placed in the center (usually a drawing of a soldier or archer who is seeking protection in the 'castle'). Archers shoot from a position 100 yards away. Arrows that land inside the circle typically score one point each while those that manage to hit the target score two points.
