A limited engagement melee scenario. Typically involving a "gate" and potentially one or more narrower positions that may be assaulted by the attacking forces. In some cases, siege weapons may be used to "knock over" a portion of the structure.

Castle battles scenarios are often laid out using stacked bales of hay. Common arrangements may include a wide opening to represent the gate, one or two bales to represent a position that may be assaulted, but not broken into (window) or three bales as being an impenetrable wall.

Actual fortifications are also used for this scenario. Examples these include:

  • The castle constructed on the grounds of the Pennsic War
  • The old French fort at Fort Meigs, in Toledo Ohio.[1][2]
