Bardic Madness

An annual Bardic event focused on the bardic arts. It features a series of challenges (NOT competitions), generally on some theme, that encourage both new and experienced performers to stretch and try something new. Challenges are published in advance, since some require advance preparation such as writing or learning a new piece, such as a poem in a particular historical style. Some challenges are day-of, prepared extemporaneously or even improvised. These are often humorous in nature. The challenges are grouped in "Fyts" (of madness, get it?) interspersed with class sessions on such topics as historical poetic or musical forms, a culture's folklore, tips for practicing, etc..
